Overview

The Senior Manager, Learning & Development is a key leadership role responsible for driving the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise learning programs that build critical capabilities and enable career growth. This role will lead the development of scalable, high-impact learning experiences—owning the content strategy, curriculum design, and learning experience architecture across the organization.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning and Engagement, this leader collaborates with senior business leaders, People team partners, and learning professionals to deliver innovative, inclusive learning solutions that align with company priorities. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on builder—skilled in modern instructional design and passionate about creating exceptional, learner-centered experiences.

 

Responsibilities

Learning Strategy & Curriculum Leadership

  • Define and execute the learning content strategy, including development of core curricula for leadership development, onboarding, skills development, and talent readiness.
  • Align learning experiences with organizational goals, workforce trends, and business capability needs.
  • Develop scalable learning pathways and frameworks for skills progression across all career levels.
  • Conduct enterprise learning needs assessments in partnership with business and People leaders.

 

Instructional Design Excellence

  • Lead the creation of engaging, modern learning experiences that incorporate best practices in adult learning theory, accessibility, and learner-centered design.
  • Oversee instructional content development across modalities, including e-learning, microlearning, and blended learning.
  • Introduce and experiment with emerging learning formats—e.g., scenario-based learning, gamification, simulations, and adaptive learning technologies.
  • Mentor and support instructional designers in developing high-quality, innovative content.

 

Program Implementation & Impact

  • Partner with the L&D Operations Manager and LMS Administrator to ensure seamless program delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear KPIs for learning initiatives and analyze performance data to assess impact on behavior, performance, and business outcomes.
  • Enable facilitators and business leaders with tools and guidance for consistent, high-quality program delivery.

 

Team & Thought Leadership

  • Lead and grow a small team of learning professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, connecting learning solutions to broader talent and engagement strategies.
  • Act as a thought leader in the L&D space—bringing in research, best practices, and insights to evolve the function.

 

Enterprise Collaboration & Influence

  • Build strong partnerships across People functions, business units, and Internal Communications to amplify the reach and adoption of learning programs.
  • Ensure L&D initiatives support broader engagement, DEI, retention, and culture goals.
  • Collaborate with Talent, Performance, and People Analytics teams to integrate learning with other employee lifecycle strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in learning & development, instructional design, organizational psychology, or related field preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8 years’ experience in corporate L&D, with a track record of strategic program development and team leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum development, learning experience design, and content strategy.
  • Expertise in instructional design principles, learning experience design, and adult learning theory.

  • Strong grasp of blended learning modalities, digital content development, and learning tech ecosystems.

  • Skilled in project and stakeholder management, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

  • Data-driven mindset with experience evaluating learning outcomes and driving continuous improvement.

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization.

  • Available for full-time position, overtime eligible if classified non-exempt.

Compensation Information

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $123,000 - $151,500.
