Overview

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring the accurate and timely payment of employees while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws. This role involves managing a payroll team, collaborating with HR and Finance departments, and developing efficient payroll procedures. The Payroll Manager will play a key role in payroll-related audits, resolving complex payroll issues, and continuously improving payroll operations for the organization. Additionally, the Payroll Manager will ensure that payroll processes are streamlined, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and processing of multi-state, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Oversee the preparation and processing of monthly bonus and commission payrolls.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Payroll Team, providing training, performance management, and guidance to ensure efficient payroll operations.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and conduct regular audits to ensure payroll data integrity.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and compliant operation of payroll functions.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll systems, processes, and controls.
  • Ensure all payroll processes comply with applicable regulations, including tax laws, wage and hour laws, and employee benefit regulations.
  • Conduct and assist in regular internal and external payroll audits, ensuring payroll records are maintained and processed accurately.
  • Address discrepancies, conduct investigations, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversee payroll software/system management, ensuring all updates, data entry, and system configurations are accurate and up to date.
  • Collaborate on 2025 initiatives, including but not limited to the implementation of a new HCM system.
  • Maintain the Compensation inbox and respond to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Stay up to date with relevant laws and regulations related to payroll processing.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure efficient payroll operations and support business initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 8+ years of payroll experience including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing and knowledge of payroll tax regulations is essential.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex payroll issues.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ADP Enhanced time and Attendance preferred.

Compensation Information

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $126,000 to $150,000.
