Overview

The Benefits and Wellness Specialist is a detail-oriented individual with superb analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, who will assist with benefits administration, strategy, compliance, best practices, wellness initiatives and leave administration. The ideal candidate will be passionate about employee benefits and compliance, educating team members, and providing the support they need.

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as subject matter expert for health & welfare plans, retirement, disability, and leave management.
  • Serve as first point of contact for escalated inquiries, looping in Benefits Director when needed.
  • Process Benefit invoices, create self-bills and work with accounting and vendors to make payments.
  • Lead special projects as needed, working independently and in teams with other Benefits Department members.
  • Oversee compliance postings, ensuring all are updated within the company database and across all office locations.
  • Work with Benefits Director on the annual open enrollment process; presenting education programs to various levels of the company engaging with vendors, brokers, TPA’s, carriers and management to implement, communicate and initiate changes and the development of communication materials.
  • Partner with the Benefits Director to successfully complete audits and regulatory filings for all benefit plans.
  • Oversee and administer various leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, PFL, PPL, short term and long term disability, personal leave, and workers’ compensation.
  • Review and process employee leave requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Communicate with employees regarding their leave status and documentation needs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding their leave status, eligibility, and questions related to benefits during leave. Provide guidance on leave options and documentations requirements.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and reporting of Benefit plans and data using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Evaluate health and wellness initiatives as well as benefit plan offerings and recommend enhancements/updates/changes based on business need, employee demand and current market offerings.
  • Coordinate with vendors to facilitate wellness seminars (health and financial).
  • Investigates and resolves eligibility file issues; researches and resolves file discrepancies reported by carriers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Labor Relations, or related field required.
  • 3 years’ experience in HR or Benefits Specialist position, or related, required.
  • Knowledge of Section 125 regulations, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, IRS, and FLSA regulations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills- Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ)- Adept at dealing with social/emotional conflicts.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with benefit plan design and compliance reporting.

Compensation Information

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $31.75 to $37.75 per hour.
