Overview

As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Compliance Writer who excels at transforming complex regulatory information into clear, engaging, and on-brand documentation. If you have a passion for writing compliance content with a touch of personality, this role is for you. The Compliance Writer will be responsible for crafting, editing, and formatting compliance documents, manuals, and policies, ensuring that all materials are both accurate and aligned with our brand. Working with executives and leaders, you will ensure that compliance communications are not only precise but also resonate with our organization's voice.

 

Responsibilities

Review Existing Documentation:

  • Thoroughly review existing compliance documents to verify accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current regulations.
  • Identify and address gaps or inconsistencies in documentation.
  • Escalate identified gaps or issues in policies to relevant stakeholders.
  • Propose enhancements to improve the clarity and effectiveness of compliance documents.

Write Manuals and Policies:

  • Develop and write comprehensive compliance manuals and policies that are both technically sound and engaging.
  • Ensure documents are easy to understand while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Dedicate roughly 90% of your time to writing and editing, ensuring all compliance materials are polished and precise.
  • Assist in creating related learning and development resources.

Maintain Compliance Documents:

  • Consistently format compliance policies and resources for professional appearance, readability, and ease of navigation.
  • Regularly update compliance documentation to reflect best practices and evolving regulations.
  • Implement a tracking system to record documentation changes and to ensure updates are seamlessly integrated across all impacted materials.
  • Manage a biannual review process for compliance-related claims, ensuring they remain accurate and relevant.

Collaborate with Leadership:

  • Partner with executives and organizational leaders to gather input for compliance manuals and policies.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings to discuss updates and ensure documentation reflects organizational needs.
  • Work with other teams (e.g., Learning & Development, Correspondence, etc.) to ensure information is effectively communicated throughout the organization.
  • Support the Compliance team with day-to-day operational assignments and specific project tasks.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • ​​​Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Law, or a related field. Additional coursework or certification in compliance writing is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate writing or technical communications, with a focus on compliance-related content. Experience equivalent to a lead copywriter or similar role.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging content from complex information.
  • Strong technical writing expertise, with experience in translating regulatory language into clear documentation.
  • Ability to balance technical accuracy with a touch of personality to ensure communications are on-brand.
  • Experience in collaborating with executives and leaders to develop and refine compliance documents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to adapt to change in a growing organization.
  • Familiarity with advanced written, verbal, and visual communication techniques.
  • Comfort using relevant industry software programs, MadCap experience preferred.

Compensation Information

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $84K-$101.5K annual.
